This position carries a great deal of responsibility. It is the first port of call if something goes wrong, so the incumbent must know the business inside-out. It is essential that the job holder commands authority but is also approachable. The Area Director is very instrumental in assisting the company in achieving its goals and objectives by region.   The job holder will work to improve productivity, customer relations and service in addition to assisting with recruitment efforts by assessing each prospective staff and assigning them in the best possible locations.

The Area Director oversees operations of several locations within the same region and works under direction from the Executive Team. Experience in the industry is required and company experience is preferred. The Area Director ensures company policies are upheld at all times. These can involve appearance standards for planners/consultants as well as customer service policies. The Area Director may also audit a facility to ensure it is being run appropriately and perform periodic performance reviews to confirm that their team is on the right path to achieving their goals.

The Area Director is instrumental in developing strategic sales plans, marketing  campaigns, and other programs to increase customer interest. They may also work with other Area Directors on promotions, as well as workshops and trainings to ensure consistency company-wide and develop ideas for improving sales and customer service experiences. Area Directors may be required to attend events like conferences with other staff, training sessions to implement new procedures, and retreats to discuss management techniques and company values. Professional development can also  include subscribing to industry publications and attending outside training opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A good Area Director is able to create a tool for either launching a new product/service or expand an existing one. With practice you will gain a lifelong skill of knowing how to get real-time customer feedback for any project or event and use it to get everyone involved, participating, self-motivated, learning, focused, and committed. Not for the   short-term, but for the long-term through a continual process. You will be able to build customer focus which is the follow-through for customer service!

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates for this position must possess the following:

  • Verifiable Meeting Planner Certification
  • Minimum 3 years of Meeting planning experience
  • Reliable updated laptop computer
  • Reliable cellular telephone
  • High-speed internet access (this is a must)
